Shutter Island Opening Sequence 



  • The soundtrack creates tension
  • The titles appear over dark locations that are shown in the sequence which tells a story and adds mystery which fits into some of the conventions of a physcological thriller 
  • The titles allows acknowledgement of director, producer, writers, and main characters  
  • The way the title fade in and out also  adds mystery 
  • The is a pause of music and blackout before the (main) title 'shutter island' appears which builds suspense and tension 
  • There is also a notable change to red as the main title 'shutter island' appears. This change in color could be seen as a significant one as red could be associated with death or danger
  • The title at the end also gets bigger/ has a zoom effect





The Sixth Sense Title Sequence



  • The mysterious nature of the diegetic sounds used create a sense of enigma among the audience 
  • The Diegetic Sounds use may build suspense among the audience as it is quite slow but also has ghostly feel to it 
  • Mystery is also created by the way the titles fade from one to another 
  • The presentation of the titles are also dynamic as they move from the left, right , and centre the affect of this may be small but effective affect on the audience 
  • The titles are displayed over some mysterious locations such as the woods or the abandoned house
  • Titles of credits suggests the ambiguous nature of the movie
